Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on August 25, and during this visit, he will dedicate various railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to the nation. These projects will particularly benefit the districts of Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad, promoting regional connectivity, industrial development, logistics efficiency, and employment generation.

The railway projects that PM Modi will dedicate to the nation include the doubling of the Mehsana-Palanpur railway line (65 km) at a cost of ₹537 crore, the gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road railway line (37 km) at a cost of ₹347 crore, and the gauge conversion of the Becharaji-Ranunj railway line (40 km) at a cost of ₹520 crore. These projects will provide easy, safe, and seamless connectivity to the Mehsana, Banaskantha, and Patan districts of North Gujarat through broad gauge lines.

This will make travel easier and faster for daily commuters, tourists, and businesses. It will also promote regional economic integration. The additional line capacity will enable trains to operate at higher speeds on the Ahmedabad-Delhi route, paving the way for more passenger services and significantly improving the speed and efficiency of freight trains. Thus, these projects will inject new energy into Gujarat’s economic activities.

The gauge conversion of the Becharaji-Ranunj railway line has been carried out in accordance with the National Logistics Policy and the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity. Its objective is to reduce logistics costs and further improve Gujarat’s Logistics Performance Index ranking. This initiative will further accelerate the socio-economic progress of North Gujarat.

This will expand the logistics network and create new employment opportunities. Both these rail services will provide the region with an environment-friendly, sustainable, and high-speed transport option. This will not only save travel time but also significantly enhance regional industrial development, investment, and job creation.
