Eviction notices served to 11 unsafe colonies on AMC land
August 25, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued eviction notices to residents of eleven colonies built on its land, some of which are over four to six decades old.
The notices were served under the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act after a structural survey by SVNIT engineers declared the houses unsafe and prone to collapse. Families have been asked to vacate within three days, failing which they will remain at their own risk.
The affected colonies include Parikshitlalnagar Quarters in Danilimda and Behrampura, Behrampura Municipal Health Staff Quarters, Vasant Rajab Quarters, Ganj Shahid Municipal Quarters, and Lal Bahadur Shastrinagar Quarters in Jamalpur. Civic activists have urged the corporation to provide alternative accommodation and ownership documents, while also demanding a transparent redevelopment process. DeshGujarat
