Ahmedabad: The Sabarmati river has been witnessing heavy inflow of water, with over 1 lakh cusecs released between 12 noon and 6 pm on Monday. Due to this, the river passing through Ahmedabad city is set to carry a higher volume of water. To match the inflow, gates of the Vasna Barrage have been open for the past two days, releasing over 30,000 cusecs as of 11 pm today. As a result, the district administration has issued an alert for downstream areas.

As per the notice by the Mamlatdar (Disaster), Ahmedabad, the level of Dharoi Dam at 23:00 hours on Monday was 188.430 meters, with water storage at 83.786%. Currently, 52,358 cusecs of water is being released downstream into the Sabarmati from Dharoi Dam, which is expected to reach Subhash Bridge shortly. Considering this, a “Warning Signal (Alert)” has been issued from Subhash Bridge.

Furthermore, according to information received from Sant Sarovar Dam, at 23:00 hours, 87,343 cusecs of water is being released downstream into the Sabarmati, with further increase expected.

To manage the influx, 35,326 cusecs of water is also being released from Vasna Barrage, which will be gradually increased. Authorities have been requested to remain alert, inform villages likely to be affected by flooding, and take necessary safety measures. DeshGujarat
