AMC to turn Keshavbaug-Pakwan Crossroad stretch into iconic road at ₹38 crore
August 28, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), which is constructing iconic roads in different localities of the city, has unveiled plans for one such project. According to the AMC, the 132-feet ring road stretch between Keshavbaug Junction and Pakwan Crossroad in the North-West Zone will be developed as an iconic road at an estimated cost of ₹38 crore, with nearly ₹5 crore allocated exclusively for decorative lighting.
The AMC Road and Building Committee recently approved the proposal. Committee chairman Jayesh Patel said the idea was inspired by the strong public response to the city’s first iconic road, developed from Airport Circle to Indira Gandhi Bridge.
The plan for this project includes wider carriageways, artistically designed footpaths, landscaped green patches, decorative seating, pedestrian-friendly areas, dust-free zones, and designated street parking. A key highlight of the makeover will be its lighting design. The Light Department’s consultant initially pegged the cost at ₹6.38 crore, but bids came in lower, with Everest Multitech winning the contract at ₹4.98 crore—around 22% less than the estimate. AMC has cleared the proposal, with a security deposit of ₹44.36 lakh. DeshGujarat
