SG Highway witnesses traffic jam

Ahmedabad: Long traffic jams were reported on SG Highway in Ahmedabad this morning, stretching from Prahladnagar to YMCA Circle. One side of the road has been closed for elevated corridor construction, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Due to the lack of proper planning, vehicles were stuck, and people heading to work faced delays. Traffic from YMCA towards Prahladnagar has been diverted, with drivers now required to take the route via Corporate House.

The traffic congestion is primarily due to ongoing work on an overbridge near Karnavati Club, where girders are being installed on the pillars. Vehicles coming from Sanand and Sarkhej, both small and large, are being redirected via YMCA Club to Bhagwan Circle, then to Zaveri Circle, and finally to Karnavati Club, allowing them to merge back onto SG Highway. The road from ISKCON towards Sarkhej remains open as usual. The one-way stretch from Karnavati Club to YMCA Circle, about 100 meters, will remain closed for the next six months. The Traffic Police Commissioner had issued a public notice regarding this diversion last month.

Traffic police have conducted surveys and deployed personnel along the route to manage congestion. The construction company is also assisting with traffic management. DeshGujarat
