Ahmedabad: State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a €100 million (around ₹900 crore) line of credit agreement with Agence Française de Développement (AFD) at its GIFT City branch to boost green financing in the country. The funds will support climate mitigation projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as adaptation measures to strengthen resilience against climate risks. SBI said the initiative is in line with its target of expanding the share of its green portfolio to 7.5–10% of its domestic advances by 2030.

A senior SBI official said the bank has been securing credit lines from multilateral and development finance institutions to promote sustainable initiatives. The agreement with AFD will also allow SBI to benefit from AFD’s expertise in climate finance, project structuring, innovative green technologies, and ESG integration. India’s largest lender, with deposits exceeding ₹54.7 lakh crore as of June 2025, SBI has been focusing on digital transformation along with sustainability-driven growth. DeshGujarat
