Gujarat RTOs to adopt AI-based driving test system
September 01, 2025
Gandhinagar: Thirty-seven RTO offices in Gujarat will soon be equipped with AI-based Automated Driving Test Systems (ADTS). As per officials, this new system will resolve frequent server crashes and system shutdown issues.
Under the new setup, 42 ADTS units will be installed across 37 RTOs by next year. The system will store data directly at the Centralised State Data Centre in Gandhinagar, eliminating local interference.
This centralised system will also capture three photographs of each applicant during the process to prevent tampering with test results. According to officials, the AI system will take photographs at three stages—registration, document upload, and the actual test. Additionally, the driving test tracks will have a six-hour power backup, so that power outages do not disrupt the test process.
ADTS has already been piloted in Modasa, Lunawada, and Chhota Udepur RTOs, and other centres are expected to adopt it within a year. DeshGujarat
