Jamnagar: BJP MP from Jamnagar, Poonamben Maadam, today hit out at Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over the abusive language directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, Heeraben Modi, during a joint public rally of the two parties in Bihar a few days ago. Calling the act deplorable and an insult to every woman in the country, Maadam demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.

In a video statement, the Jamnagar MP said, “A few days ago, during a joint public event organised by Congress and RJD, highly derogatory abuses were hurled at the late mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Such language has never been heard in any public meeting or political rally. Abusing the late mother of the Prime Minister is extremely sad, shameful, and unfortunate. In the country’s history, abuses have never before been hurled at a late mother from a public platform—and that too at a woman who never participated in politics, who came from a poor family, raised her children, and dedicated her son, our Prime Minister, to serving the nation. She had no expectations from her son for her own sake. To disrespect such a person with abusive and derogatory language shows the mentality of Congress and RJD. I strongly condemn such behaviour—it is highly shameful.”

She further added, “This is not just an insult to Prime Minister Modi’s mother but to all mothers and sisters across the country. Every family has a mother who is the root of the household, whether as a mother, sister, or daughter. This time, all limits were crossed at the Congress-RJD rally with the use of such deplorable language. For this, the 140 crore people of India will never forgive. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav must come forward to apologise to all citizens, keeping in mind our culture of respecting women and mothers, as such disrespect will never be tolerated.”

A video from Bihar’s Darbhanga district had gone viral a few days ago during the Congress-RJD’s Voter Adhikar Yatra, showing people shouting abusive slogans against the Prime Minister and his late mother on stage, beneath photographs of Gandhi and Yadav. Several Congress supporters were also seen standing nearby with party flags. One Mohammad Rizvi alias Raza (20) was later arrested from the Singhwara area of Darbhanga town for allegedly shouting the abuses during the event. DeshGujarat
