Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed Parimal Khandubhai Patel (38), a Class 2 officer posted as Deputy Executive Engineer at the Regional Office, GIDC Bhatpor, in a bribe case involving Rs. 50,000.
According to the ACB, the complainant owns two industrial plots in Surat’s Bhatpor GIDC. The plots had old GIDC-built sheds that needed demolition for industrial purposes, and the complainant had applied for permission to demolish them.
The accused, Parimal Patel, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to process the demolition permission. Unwilling to pay, the complainant approached the ACB. Acting on the complaint, ACB officials set up a trap, and during the sting operation, Parimal Patel was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 50,000 from the complainant at his office. The case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
