Renewable energy capacity of Gujarat soars to 39,275 MW; over 6k MW added in just 5 months
September 16, 2025
Ahmedabad: Gujarat has once again positioned itself at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, adding 6,632 MW of green power between April and August 2025, almost matching the total capacity added in the previous fiscal year.
The state’s installed RE capacity, which was 25,471.7 MW on March 31, 2024, increased to 33,393 MW by March 31, 2025—a net addition of 7,921 MW in 12 months. The capacity further climbed to 39,275.7 MW as of August 21, 2025, with about 83% of FY 2025’s total capacity added in just five months, the data from the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy showed.
Officials and experts credit the momentum to the large-scale commissioning of solar parks, hybrid solar-wind projects, and new wind farms.
As of now, Gujarat’s total installed RE capacity includes 22,806 MW of solar, 14,235 MW of wind, 1,990 MW of large hydro, 113 MW of small hydro, and 129.8 MW of biopower. DeshGujarat
