PM Modi turns 75: Gujarat marks his birthday with several service initiatives

Ahmedabad: To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday today, the Gujarat government and other organisations are rolling out a series of large-scale service programmes under the Seva Pakhwada (fortnight of service), which will run until October 2.

The highlight of the celebrations is a mega blood donation camp at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, complemented by over 600 similar drives across the state. In all, nearly 1.42 lakh health and blood donation camps will be conducted by government agencies, NGOs, and community organisations.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is set to launch the Healthy Women, Strong Families campaign, focusing on women’s health through special clinics in municipal hospitals and health centres. Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel visited the world’s largest stadium where the blood donation drive began, with actor Vivek Oberoi attending as a special guest.

Key Highlights of the Day:

  • Namo Amrut Free Mega Health Camp in Maninagar, to be inaugurated by CM Patel.

  • Exhibition on PM Modi’s life at Thaltej Community Hall.

  • Namotsav, a grand multimedia musical featuring 150 performers, at Sonoria Block, Saraspur.

  • Swachhata Doots felicitation at Surat Indoor Stadium, followed by a live concert by singer Kailash Kher.

  • Postcard writing and drawing contests in municipal schools, where Classes 4–9 students will send greetings to PM Modi and create artwork on the theme Developed India 2047.

Nationwide Celebrations:
The BJP has planned large-scale welfare and development drives across India to mark the day.

  • Delhi: 41 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs will be inaugurated, with over 300 planned in total. The civic body is upgrading its primary health centres and maternity homes to offer improved healthcare. The city government will also launch 500 crèches for children of women labourers. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 projects, including hospital blocks, dialysis centres, waste-to-energy plants, and drones for policing.

  • Madhya Pradesh (Dhar): Modi will launch the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar initiative, transfer funds under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to 10 lakh women, and unveil the Suman Sakhi Chatbot for maternal and child health. He will also hand out the 10 millionth Sickle Cell Screening Card and inaugurate a PM MITRA textile park, alongside activities under Adi Karmyogi Abhiyan focused on tribal welfare.

  • Varanasi: In the Prime Minister’s constituency, the municipal corporation will lay foundation stones and inaugurate projects worth ₹111 crore.

  • Maharashtra: The BJP will conduct more than one lakh cataract surgeries, offer eye check-ups to 10 lakh people, and distribute spectacles during the fortnight.

  • Odisha: The state government will plant 75 lakh saplings as part of the birthday celebrations.

Meanwhile, in Puri, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sculpture on the beach to mark the eve of the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday.
