IAF’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team enthralls Mehsana citizens with thrilling air show

Mehsana: Mehsana witnessed history as the Indian Air Force’s renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team performed its first-ever air show in the city this morning. The team took to the skies at Mehsana Aerodrome at around 9 a.m., presenting spectacular stunts and breathtaking aerobatics that enthralled the crowd.

The excitement in the city was palpable, as residents eagerly gathered to witness the aerial display. The day before, the pilots had conducted practice runs, showcasing their precision, coordination, and skill. Spectators captured the mesmerizing maneuvers on their cameras, anticipating the grand performance.

During the air show, the Suryakiran Team flew nine Hawk MK-132 jets, performing daring stunts at altitudes close to the spectators. The aircraft executed 360-degree turns in a straight path, and two planes flew past each other at very close distances, creating heart-stopping moments for the audience. The event offered free entry to the public, allowing everyone to enjoy the awe-inspiring display.

The Suryakiran team, formed in 1996, has performed in more than 900 nine-aircraft formations both in India and abroad over the years.

The team consists of 13 pilots, with nine fighter pilots flying simultaneously during shows. Pilots are selected for a term of two to three years and are all qualified flying instructors with extensive experience in operating Kiran aircraft.
