Mumbai: Bollywood singer and music composer Sachin Sanghvi was arrested on Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after promising her a role in his music album and marriage, the police announced.

According to the complaint, the woman in her 20s first came in contact with Sanghvi in February 2024 after he sent her a message on Instagram. The two later exchanged phone numbers, and the singer allegedly promised her an opportunity in his upcoming music album. It is alleged that Sanghvi called the woman to his studio, proposed marriage, and sexually assaulted her multiple times.

On the basis of the complaint and investigation, the singer was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

In response, Sanghvi’s lawyer stated that the allegations were “completely baseless and unsubstantiated.” He added, “There is no merit to the case. My client’s detention by the police was illegal, which is why he was granted bail immediately. We will fully and unequivocally defend against all allegations.” DeshGujarat
