Now pay traffic e-challan online in Gujarat via Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, and YONO

Gandhinagar: The process of paying fines issued to motorists for traffic violations in Gujarat has been made easier. In a move to simplify e-challan payments, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the state government and the State Bank of India (SBI). Under this MoU, a new facility has been launched to enable online fine payments through the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), the Gujarat government announced today.

Since 2023, motorists in the state have been able to pay their fines online through the One Nation One Challan platform using various payment options such as net banking, debit/credit cards, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the mParivahan website, and PoS machines.

Now, this facility has been expanded — motorists can directly pay their fines via popular BBPS platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, and YONO. To make the payment, users simply need to open the application, select the option “State Traffic Branch, Gujarat,” and proceed with the payment. The inclusion of BBPS offers more online payment choices and makes the fine payment process smoother and more convenient for vehicle owners.

The funds collected through this system will be verified and settled in accordance with the guidelines periodically issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for online transactions. This step is expected to enhance both transparency and efficiency in the fine collection process across the state, an official statement said.
