DP World, DPA, Nevomo Ink Pact for Intra-Port MagRail System at Kandla
October 30, 2025
Kandla: At the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, a landmark collaboration was announced between the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), DP World, and Nevomo to introduce the Intra-Port MagRail System at DPA Kandla. The innovative system aims to enable automated and sustainable cargo movement within the port, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
Under the partnership, DP World will leverage Nevomo’s advanced MagRail Booster technology — developed by the European deep-tech firm — to demonstrate its use in a live Indian port environment.
This collaboration follows a similar MoU signed by the three parties in July 2025. As part of the new agreement, DPA, DP World, and Nevomo will jointly design and install a 750-metre MagRail Booster pilot track within the port premises.
The pilot aims to showcase a fully automated and sustainable cargo transport system utilizing existing rail infrastructure, reducing dependence on conventional locomotives while enhancing port throughput, efficiency, and safety.
In addition, a strategic feasibility study will assess the potential for large-scale deployment of MagRail technology across Indian ports. DeshGujarat
