Gujarat Tableau to showcase Somnath, Smritivan, Sardar Patel’s vision at Unity Day Parade
October 30, 2025
Kevadiya: On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, the eyes of the entire nation are fixed on Ektanagar in Gujarat. This year, the National Unity Day ceremony on October 31 will take a historic turn with the introduction of a first-of-its-kind ‘Unity Parade’ — a moving parade of armed forces and police contingents, modeled on the Republic Day parade held in New Delhi.
Tableau Parade on the Theme of ‘Unity’
A new and significant feature has been added to this year’s National Unity Day celebration. For the first time, tableaus showcasing the unique culture, achievements, and identity of various states and armed forces will be presented at Ektanagar, similar to the Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26.
A total of 10 tableaus will participate on the theme of ‘Unity’, representing the NSG, NDRF, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Puducherry, and Uttarakhand.
Gujarat Tableau: The Story of a United India
The Gujarat tableau, designed by the state government, will highlight Sardar Patel’s invaluable contribution to building a united India and is expected to be one of the major attractions at Ektanagar.
The central section of the tableau will depict the historic moment when Sardar Patel, with the efforts of Maharaja Krishnakumar Singhji, facilitated the merger of Bhavnagar State into the Republic of India.
In addition, the Somnath Temple, symbolizing Sardar Patel’s decisive leadership, and Smritivan in Bhuj, built in memory of the martyrs of the Kutch earthquake, will feature prominently—representing Gujarat’s courage and resilience. The state’s economic progress will also be showcased through glimpses of its textile and diamond industries.
This grand ceremony, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, will stand as a unique celebration of India’s unity, strength, and diversity. DeshGujarat
