Gujarat ATS apprehends 3 suspected terrorists linked with ISIS; seizes pistols & cartridges

Gandhinagar: In a major anti-terror operation, the Ahmedabad Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended three suspected ISIS terrorists near Adalaj in Gandhinagar.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, son of Abdul Khadar Jeelani; Mohd Suhel, son of Mohd Suleman; and Azad, son of Suleman Saifi. Among them, two are residents of Uttar Pradesh, while one hails from Andhra Pradesh.

Officials revealed that the suspects had been under ATS surveillance for several months. They were arrested while being involved in the exchange of weapons that was to take place in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. According to the ATS, the accused were plotting terror attacks at multiple locations across India and had carried out recces at places like Delhi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.

An ATS official, during a press conference, said, “The prime accused, Dr. Ahmed, had completed his MBBS degree from China and was fluent in several languages. He was allegedly in touch with various foreign entities through social media, through which funds for possible terror operations were being arranged. He was also involved in the fabrication of chemical weapons, as revealed through the analysis of the accused’s phone,” the police stated.

During the operation, the ATS recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and 4 litres of castor oil from their possession. DeshGujarat
