Bharuch: A tragic incident was reported from the Meghmani Industries Company complex in Dahej, where an employee allegedly died due to suffocation on Sunday evening. The death sparked outrage among the family members, who protested outside the company premises after being offered a compensation of only ₹3 lakh by the management.
The deceased has been identified as Yuvrajsinh Arjunsinh Yadav, a native of Sigam village in Jambusar taluka and currently residing in Bharuch. He had been working at Unit No. 5 of Meghmani Industries for the past five years.
According to reports, Yadav was inside the company compound around 4 p.m. when he suddenly began experiencing breathing difficulties. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment but was declared dead shortly after admission.
Upon learning of the incident, the family members rushed to the hospital but were angered to find that no senior company official was present. As tempers rose, the company reportedly offered ₹3 lakh as compensation, which the family rejected. They demanded ₹2 crore as compensation and refused to accept the body until their demand was met.
The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, which is being conducted by a panel of doctors to ascertain the exact cause of death. A case of accidental death has been registered at Dahej Police Station, confirmed K.G. Sisodia, Police Inspector, Dahej.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s father, Arjun Singh Yadav, alleged that this was not the first time his son had suffered due to gas exposure inside the company. “Yuvraj had been affected by toxic gas twice before. Just before Diwali, he had to be hospitalized for the same reason. The company had then paid only part of the treatment expenses, leaving the rest to us,” he claimed. DeshGujarat
