Chhattisgarh CM on Ahmedabad visit; Torrent, Welspun, Vadilal, other groups propose investments in state

Ahmedabad: Chhattisgarh witnessed strong investment interest from prominent Indian industrial groups during the Investor Connect event held in Ahmedabad, as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met leading business leaders from diverse sectors including food processing, textiles, power, and manufacturing.
Vadilal Group to Establish Food Processing Unit in Chhattisgarh
The Vadilal Group has expressed its intent to invest in Chhattisgarh by setting up a state-of-the-art food processing unit. During a meeting with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Devanshu Gandhi, Managing Director of the Vadilal Group, proposed establishing a facility to manufacture ice cream, frozen foods, and other processed food products.
Gandhi stated that after successfully operating across western and northern India, the company now aims to expand its footprint in eastern India, particularly in Chhattisgarh.
Welspun Group and Industrial Leaders Discuss Collaboration Opportunities
Chintan Thakkar, Director of Welspun Group and Chairman of ASSOCHAM Gujarat, along with Jaimin Shah, Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAM Gujarat, and other prominent industrialists also met Chief Minister Sai during the programme.
The discussions focused on potential investments in key sectors such as minerals, metals, fertilizers, petrochemicals, energy, and information technology, an official release stated.
Torrent Group Proposes ₹23,100 Crore Investment
In another major development, Jinal Mehta, Vice Chairman of Torrent Group, proposed significant investments in Chhattisgarh totaling ₹23,100 crore. The group plans to invest ₹22,900 crore in the power sector and ₹200 crore in the pharmaceutical sector, which together are expected to create employment for around 5,200 people.
Ahmedabad Textile Association Shows Interest in Eco-Friendly Textile Projects
A delegation from the Ahmedabad Textile Association, led by Champalal G. Agarwal, President of Narol Textiles Infrastructure and Environment Management (NTIEM), also met Chief Minister Sai during the event.
The delegation proposed developing an environmentally friendly textile processing industry in Chhattisgarh, including expanding the capacity of its Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) from 100 MLD to 130 MLD.
