Gujarat Police, MapmyIndia ink MoU; Mappls app to provide real-time traffic alerts, black spot updates

Gandhinagar: In a major step toward improving road safety and traffic management in Gujarat, the Gujarat Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Swadeshi navigation app MapmyIndia (Mappls).

Under the MoU, MapmyIndia has integrated updated features into its app, including real-time traffic advisories, black spot alerts, accident-prone zone information and speed limit notifications. Data on black spots and accident-risk locations provided by the State Traffic Branch has already been incorporated into the platform. Officials said the updates will help motorists identify critical spots in advance and prevent mishaps.

As part of the collaboration, Gujarat Police will share real-time information on road closures, repair or construction work, rallies and other events that may affect traffic flow. These updates will be pushed live on the MapmyIndia app, enabling users to plan routes more efficiently and avoid congestion.

To ensure smooth implementation, police staff across all districts have been trained to provide timely inputs through a dedicated WhatsApp group created for this purpose. Data updation work is already underway.

The Gujarat Police said it is working closely with MapmyIndia to deliver accurate, real-time traffic updates for a safer and more convenient commuting experience. The department has urged citizens to make full use of the MapmyIndia app for personalized traffic alerts and improved route planning.

The agreement follows a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi with departments involved in the ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi’ campaign, where he emphasized the adoption of indigenous technologies. Acting on this direction, the State Traffic Branch formalized the partnership with MapmyIndia to enhance digital traffic solutions for citizens. DeshGujarat
