Acting on a tip-off, the Detection of Crime Branch of Surat City Police, Customs officials, and CISF personnel intercepted Jafar Akbar Khan, who had arrived on Air India Express flight IX-263 (seat 27C). Khan, a resident of Mumbai, was found hiding the banned narcotic substance in blankets, game boxes, and ladies’ purses inside his luggage. A thorough search led to the recovery of eight packets of hydroponic weed (hybrid marijuana) weighing around 4.055 kg.
According to authorities, the market value of this high-grade hybrid cannabis is estimated at ₹1,41,92,500. Officials said the seizure is among the largest narcotics hauls ever made at Surat airport.
