Sanghvi made this announcement after today’s cabinet meeting, in which Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel reviewed the ongoing procurement of groundnuts at the support price and assessed the progress of two agricultural relief packages announced by the state government.
Addressing the media, Sanghvi further stated that more than 9.31 lakh farmers have registered for the sale of groundnuts at the support price this year, which is over two-and-a-half times the registrations recorded last year. In view of the high production of groundnuts, the Chief Minister has represented to the Government of India to increase procurement, and a decision has been made to purchase groundnuts worth Rs. 15,000 crore, with a limit of 125 maunds per farmer.
Payments for the procured groundnuts are being directly deposited into the farmers’ bank accounts.
Regarding the agricultural relief packages, the Deputy CM said that a historic Rs. 10,000 crore package has been announced to help farmers recover from crop losses due to unseasonal rains this year. Over 10 lakh farmers have applied online through the VCE portal to avail assistance under this scheme.

It is noteworthy that both relief packages provide equal support for irrigated and unirrigated crops, with a generous assistance of Rs. 22,000 per hectare (up to two hectares). Furthermore, in special cases for land improvement in Vav-Tharad and Patan districts, assistance of Rs. 20,000 per hectare will be provided to farmers.
