November 25, 2025
Navsari: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Sandeep Madhukar Khopkar, a retired Class-2 Assistant Geologist of the Navsari Mines and Minerals Department, for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth ₹1,02,46,949 — 62.13% more than his known sources of income.
According to the ACB, Khopkar, while serving in the department between January 1, 2009 and November 30, 2018, allegedly used his position to generate illegal income and invest it in movable and immovable assets. The probe revealed multiple investments made during and after his service tenure, including purchases linked to his residence, LIC policies, PPF accounts and personal bank accounts. Officials stated that these investments far exceeded his legitimate earnings. He retired in 2021 and currently resides at B-71, Amrapali Society in the Manjalpur area of Vadodara.
R.R. Chaudhary, Assistant Director of ACB Surat, confirmed that the total assets in question amount to 62.13% more than Khopkar’s lawful income.
The ACB booked him under Section 13(1)(E) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and arrested him on November 24. Further investigation into the source of funds and associated assets is underway. DeshGujarat
