Ahmedabad: Gujarat witnessed a notable rise in minimum temperatures, making early Tuesday morning comparatively warmer across several major cities. According to the 0830 IST weather report of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Deesa, Gandhinagar and Surat recorded minimum temperatures above normal levels.
In Ahmedabad, the minimum temperature climbed to 18.3°C, which is 2.3°C higher than normal, signalling a shift towards warmer nights. Vadodara recorded a 19.0°C minimum, 2.2°C above normal, while Surat registered 20.4°C, higher by 1.5°C. Gandhinagar also reported a rise with 17.6°C, 1.5°C above normal, and Deesa recorded 16.5°C, 1.9°C higher than seasonal norms. Bhavnagar reported 18.6°C, 0.7°C above normal.
Despite the rise in minimum temperature, daytime maximums remained largely below normal in most districts. Maximum temperatures hovered around 30–33°C, with Rajkot being the warmest at 33.6°C. At night, however, the Saurashtrian hub recorded 13.8°C, around 3.4°C below normal.
Furthermore, several coastal stations including Dwarka, Kandla, Naliya and Porbandar recorded significantly below-normal minimum temperatures, indicating sharp night-time cooling in pockets. Naliya posted the lowest minimum at 11°C, 3.5°C below normal.
Humidity levels ranged widely across the state, with Daman reporting the highest morning relative humidity at 88%, while Okha registered the lowest evening humidity at 40%. No rainfall was recorded at any station.
Meteorological experts attribute the warmer nights in central Gujarat to changing wind patterns and the gradual retreat of winter-like conditions. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate during the week with dry weather prevailing across the state. DeshGujarat
