ED searches in 10 states, including Gujarat, in National Medical Commission bribe case

Ahmedabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is carrying out search operations at 15 locations across 10 states in connection with a bribery case involving medical colleges and government officials.

The raids span Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.

According to sources, the searches are linked to a CBI-registered FIR dated June 30, 2025, which alleges that bribes were paid to government officials, including those from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in exchange for confidential information on medical college inspections.

The investigation suggests that sensitive inspection details were shared with senior management of several medical colleges and intermediaries, enabling the accused to influence inspection outcomes and secure approval to run academic courses.

The ED’s operations include searches at seven premises associated with medical colleges across multiple states, as well as the homes and offices of several private individuals named in the CBI FIR, who are believed to have played key roles in facilitating the bribery.

Officials noted that the wide-ranging searches reflect the scale of the alleged network, targeting both institutional and personal assets to uncover the full extent of the operation.

As per the FIR, 25 named individuals, along with some public servants, have been booked in the case, including Swami Bhaktavatsaldasji of Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (SIMSR), Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. DeshGujarat
