BJP Slams Jignesh Mevani for ‘Derogatory’ Remarks Against PM Modi
December 02, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today condemned the language used by Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been honoured by 32 countries.
Addressing a press conference in the media room at the state party headquarters, “Kamalam,” SC Morcha President Gautambhai Gediya said, “The language used by Jignesh Mevani in reference to Gujarat’s pride and the nation’s Prime Minister cannot be considered in line with the values of Gujarat.”
He further added, “Jignesh Mevani’s statements reflect the attitude of a street thug. I strongly denounce such remarks in the harshest terms.”
Addressing Mevani directly, Gediya said, “The people of Gujarat elected you to carry out developmental work. What development projects have you completed in your constituency? How many families have benefited from schemes or health initiatives? Instead of working for development, you have started a shop of hatred. From sunrise to sunset, you engage in divisive politics, and your statements clearly show that you are spreading nothing but enmity. Every Gujarati bows their head in shame because of your words. The people of Gujarat even show opposition responsibly and respectfully, unlike you.”
Gediya continued, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently ensured that development reaches the last citizen. Jignesh Mevani, have you ever helped anyone in your constituency? You often quote Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar — did he ever give anyone the right to insult a mother? Using inappropriate words against the Prime Minister is not freedom of speech. You have disrespected Dr. Ambedkar as well. On behalf of the BJP, I demand that you apologise for insulting the Prime Minister and his mother. Until Mevani does so, leaders of the Scheduled Caste Morcha will organise protest programmes across the state.”
Commenting on Congress’s internal politics, he said, “It appears that Mevani has taken a contract to finish whatever is left of the Congress party using such provocative rhetoric.”
“The remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi are a grave insult to the office he holds, the pride of the entire state of Gujarat, and an affront to mothers everywhere. This can never be tolerated,” he added. DeshGujarat
