Ahmedabad to Get 15 New Fire Stations in 2026-27 including a Model Fire Station
December 10, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a major expansion of its emergency response network, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved the establishment of 15 new fire stations in the city for the financial year 2026–27. As part of this expansion, the city will also develop a ‘model fire station’ equipped with state-of-the-art technology and advanced operational facilities.
At present, the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) operates 19 fire stations across the city. Construction work on three additional stations is currently underway, while four more have recently received administrative approval. With the planned addition of 15 new stations next year, officials say the city’s fire safety infrastructure will see a significant boost.
Authorities note that Ahmedabad’s rapid vertical and horizontal growth has increased the need for faster and more efficient fire response. The upcoming stations are expected to improve response times, especially in industrial clusters, high-rise zones, and traffic-dense localities.
The proposed model fire station will include modern firefighting equipment, upgraded emergency response units, dedicated training facilities, and a smart control room, enhancing both operational efficiency and workforce preparedness.
According to senior AFES officials, strengthening the fire services network has become crucial given the city’s growing population and expanding construction footprint. With large-scale infrastructure upgrades planned over the next two years, Ahmedabad is expected to become significantly safer and better equipped to handle fire-related emergencies.
