December 10, 2025
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel today, during the meeting of the State Council of Ministers, approved the Regional Economic Master Plan for six economic regions, aimed at ensuring balanced and inclusive development across the state. The plan will serve as a key roadmap to promote equitable economic growth in all 33 districts of Gujarat, said Spokesperson Minister Jitubhai Vaghani.
Minister Vaghani further explained that the state government’s high-level think tank, Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT), will provide strategic foresight and data-driven recommendations to ensure the successful implementation of the regional plans. The GRIT recommendations, along with the Regional Economic Master Plan and initiatives like “Developed Gujarat @ 2047” and “Gujarat @ 2035,” will act as important tools to realize this vision.
For effective execution, the government has appointed a high-ranking officer as Economic Master Plan (EMP) Coordinator for each region:
-
Central Gujarat: Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop
-
Saurashtra: Tourism Secretary Rajendra Kumar
-
Kutch: Gujarat Maritime Board Vice Chairman & CEO Rajkumar Beniwal
-
South Gujarat: Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal
-
Saurashtra Coastal Region: Mines Commissioner Dhaval Patel
-
North Gujarat: GIDC Managing Director Praveena D.K.
The EMP Coordinators will serve as the main link between government departments, industry representatives, local administration, and GRIT. They will ensure smooth communication, collaboration, and timely completion of the schemes and ambitious projects under each regional plan. Additionally, they will continuously monitor the progress of the projects identified in the master plans, the Minister added. DeshGujarat
