Jain Sadhvi killed in car–tractor collision on Jasdan–Atkot Road

Rajkot: A tragic accident on the Jasdan–Atkot four-lane road in Rajkot district on Tuesday claimed the life of a Jain Sadhvi and left four others injured.

A group of Jain Sadhvis from the Surat region was travelling toward Junagadh after an overnight halt in Jasdan. Around 6:30 am, while they were walking along the roadside, a tractor loaded with groundnut sacks was moving ahead of them. A speeding Kia Seltos approaching from behind rammed into the tractor, causing it to overturn.

The overturned tractor, along with its heavy load, fell directly on the group. Sadhvi Shrunidhi (40) died on the spot after suffering severe head injuries from the falling sacks. The collision was so intense that a passenger in the car was trapped inside, prompting rescuers to cut open the vehicle to free the injured. All the injured were taken to KD Parwadia Hospital in Atkot for treatment.

Sadhvi Dharmapragya and Sadhvi Vriddhi also sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed for medical care.

Police personnel reached the spot shortly after the accident. Upon receiving information, Hirenbhai Sakaria—who had arranged the group’s stay in Jasdan—along with Nareshbhai Dared and other volunteers, joined the rescue efforts. Considering the gravity of the incident, Rajkot District Police Chief Vijaysinh Gurjar also visited the site.

Atkot Police have arrested tractor driver Praveen Jadav and the driver of the car involved in the crash. Both have been taken to the police station for further action. DeshGujarat
