Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced the ‘Interest Waiver Scheme 2025–26’ to provide relief to property taxpayers and accelerate the collection of outstanding property tax. The scheme will be in effect from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026.

Under this scheme, taxpayers who pay their outstanding property tax during this period will receive substantial interest relief.

For properties assessed under the old tax formula, a 100 percent interest waiver will be granted for both residential and commercial properties from January to March 2026.

For properties assessed under the new tax formula:

• Residential properties will receive an 85 percent interest waiver in January, 80 percent in February, and 75 percent in March.

• Non-residential (commercial) properties will receive a 65 percent interest waiver in January, 60 percent in February, and 50 percent in March.

The AMC emphasized that taxpayers who settle their dues early will benefit from higher interest relief.

Additionally, under this scheme, all residential properties with shacks and huts will be given a 100 percent waiver on property tax interest from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026.

The scheme will not apply to property tax for the current financial year (2025–26).

Officials stated that this interest waiver initiative will help boost the collection of outstanding property tax while providing significant relief to taxpayers. DeshGujarat
