Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced that water supply will remain suspended in several areas of the South-West (Athwa) Zone on December 30, 2025, due to planned maintenance work on the main rising line.

According to the civic body, a valve-replacement operation will be carried out on the 1,016-mm diameter MS rising line that connects the Sarathana Water Distribution Station to the Khodadara Water Distribution Station and further supplies water to the Althan, Vesu and Dumas underground storage tanks.

The work will commence at 9:00 am on December 30 and continue until completion later that night. As a result, underground tanks at multiple distribution stations in the Athwa Zone will not be filled, affecting both direct boosting and overhead tank–based water supply in several localities.

SMC has appealed to residents of the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance, store adequate water, and use it judiciously. The corporation has also expressed regret for the inconvenience and sought public cooperation.

Areas likely to be affected in South-West (Athwa) Zone

Vesu-1 Water Distribution Station

• Morning supply affected
  Areas from Vesu-1 WDS up to GD Goenka Canal Road including Ratnaraj, Hegdewar, Royal Paradise, Surya Heritage, Eco Garden, ESR-7 Bharathana zone, Canal Road Vesu, and nearby localities.
• Afternoon supply affected
  Areas under ESR-8 network including Suman Shail, Vesu Gam area, Someshwar Chowkdi, SUDA Bhavan, Krishnadhham, Devdarshan, Siddhi Row Houses, Ratna Jyoti, Soham Heights, Gautam Buddha Nagar and surrounding societies.

Vesu-2 Water Distribution Station

• Morning supply affected
  Suman Sagar, Hi-Tech Avenue, L&T Bachelor Hostel, Nandini-3, Vastugram Chowkdi, ESR-5 & ESR-6 network areas of Vesu, Rundh and Magdalla and adjoining localities.
• Evening supply affected
  ESR-6A network areas including Shyam Palace, Shringar Residency, Nandini-1 & 2, Nandanvan-3, Sangath Residency, Star Galaxy, L&T Colony, ONGC Phase-2, Phoenix, Florence, Crystal Palace and nearby areas.

Dumas Water Distribution Station

• Morning supply affected (ESR-15 network)
  Gavier, Dumas, Kadi Faliya, Sultanabad, Bhimpore Gam Tal area, Satellite Bungalows, Avadh Utopia, Airport locality and surrounding areas.
• Morning supply affected (ESR-12 network)
  Avadh Copperstone, Avadh Carolina, Weekend Address, Marion Residency, Agarwal Pragati Trust and nearby localities.

Althan & Bhimrad Water Distribution Stations

• Afternoon supply affected
  TP-43 (Bhimrad), TP-44 (Bhimrad-SUDA), Dream City Khajod, Bhimrad Gam, Sarsana Gam, TP-36 (Althan) and TP-37 (South Althan) regions.
