Banned Chinese kite string slashes face of youth in north Gujarat
January 02, 2026
Sabarkantha: Yet another tragedy linked to the use of banned Chinese kite string has come to light from Dadiwad village in Khedbrahma of Sabarkantha, ahead of the Uttarayan festival.
According to details, a youth from Dadiwad sustained serious injuries while flying a kite when a sharp Chinese string suddenly struck his face. The razor-like thread caused deep cuts, leaving him bleeding profusely. He was immediately rushed for medical treatment.
The incident has triggered anger among local residents, who alleged that despite a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and use of Chinese kite string, it continues to be sold clandestinely in the market. Villagers blamed lax enforcement by the police, claiming that traders are openly flouting the ban driven by profit motives.
The victim’s family and local residents have demanded strict action against those involved in selling the banned string, warning that such negligence could lead to further loss of life if not checked immediately. DeshGujarat
