Gujarat Forest Dept arrests one with wildlife hunting weapons, animal remains

Bhuj: Acting on specific intelligence, the Kutch West Forest Division conducted a late-night patrol operation on January 4, 2026, leading to the seizure of wildlife hunting equipment, animal remains, and illicit liquor from a residential house in Bhuj city.
During night patrolling by the Bhuj West Range, forest officials raided a room in a house located in Ashapura Nagar, Bhuj, where they recovered weapons and tools allegedly used for hunting wild animals. The seizure included remains of a wild animal identified as an Indian porcupine (shahudi), along with teeth and jaw parts of other wild animals. A motorcycle bearing registration number GJ-12-EQ-5257 and equipment related to an illicit country liquor distillation unit, along with liquor stock, were also recovered.
Following the operation, Sureshbhai Dilipbhai Kasviya, a resident of Ashapura Nagar, Bhuj, was arrested, and a case has been registered against him under various provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Further legal proceedings are underway. DeshGujarat
