Navsari: In yet another incident related to the menace of stray cattle, a 28-year-old man lost his life in Navsari, while five people were injured in Ankleshwar.
In Navsari, the victim, Tejas Arvindbhai Patel, was passing through the Chhapara–Mogar road when a stray cattle suddenly collided with his bike. Tejas sustained critical injuries in the accident and succumbed during treatment at a private hospital. Police reached the spot and the hospital after being informed and initiated further legal proceedings.
The incident has triggered anger among local residents, who allege continued inaction by the Navsari Municipal Corporation over the growing menace of stray cattle on city roads. Locals claim that cattle-catching drives are launched only after fatal accidents and are discontinued within days. They have demanded a strict and permanent policy against cattle owners to prevent such tragedies and ensure road safety.
Meanwhile, in Ankleshwar, a stray bull went on a rampage near the Ayyappa temple, injuring at least five people few days ago. One of the injured was shifted to the ICU as his condition was reported to be critical. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
According to details, a South Indian couple had arrived at the temple in a rickshaw to participate in a festival when the bull suddenly attacked them. The woman was knocked to the ground and gored in the leg, while her husband was also attacked when he tried to rescue her. The bull continued its violent spree for nearly 15 minutes, attacking passersby and bikers who rushed to help. All the injured were taken to hospital, where most were discharged after first aid.
Following the viral circulation of the CCTV footage on social media, public anger has intensified against the local administration over its failure to curb the stray cattle menace. DeshGujarat
