Surat RTO driving test track to remain closed for five days
January 09, 2026
Surat: The two-wheeler and four-wheeler driving test track at the Surat RTO will remain closed from January 10 to 14 due to ongoing work to implement an AI-powered driving test system. As a result, both two-wheeler and car driving tests will be suspended for five days.
Notably, January 10, 11, and 14 are public holidays, while applicants who had advance appointments on January 12 and 13 will have their test dates rescheduled to a day after January 15. Candidates will be informed of their revised test dates via message.
Work on the AI-based driving test track at the Surat RTO is in its final stage. In the coming days, a 9-meter-high pole will be erected to install CCTV cameras. Additional work, including wiring, will also be carried out. The driving tests on the track will be monitored through these CCTV cameras, and the AI system will determine whether an applicant has passed or failed and declare the result based on the footage.
The entire project is expected to be completed within the next fortnight. After that, the AI-based test track is likely to become operational from January 26. DeshGujarat
