Student-made satellite ‘SanskarSat-1’ developed by Sanskardham Ahmedabad, set for ISRO launch on Jan 12
January 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: Students of Sanskardham, Ahmedabad, have achieved a rare milestone by designing and building a student satellite, ‘SanskarSat-1’ which will now be launched by ISRO tomorrow.
In a unique and one-of-its-kind initiative, students from classes ranging from 7th to 12th, have worked end-to-end on a real satellite mission. Moving beyond classroom learning they have worked on achieving practical application of their learnings through hands-on development of space technology.
SanskarSat-1, is a small CubeSat designed mainly for learning and experimentation. A CubeSat is a type of miniaturised satellite built in a cube-shaped format for space research and technology demonstration and can be launched as piggyback payloads along with larger satellites. Through this, students will learn how satellites communicate with Earth and how data is received and analysed.
Students also built and operated an Automated Weather Station on campus to understand real-time data acquisition and satellite applications for agriculture and climate monitoring.
A total of 15 students were involved in the project, contributing across five teams including design, fabrication, mission planning, assembly, integration & testing and quality assurance. DeshGujarat
