Rs. 25,000 bribe for not harassing Massage Parlor operator; ACB Gujarat nabs Cop and Middleman in Surat

Surat: Acting on a complaint received through the toll-free helpline 1064, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a successful trap operation in Surat city and arrested two persons for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000.
The complainant, described as an alert citizen, approached the ACB after refusing to pay the bribe amount demanded by the accused.
The accused have been identified as (1) Lokrakshak Dhirubhai Nakabhai Thakaria, attached to the AHTU, Crime Branch, Surat City, and (2) Ronakbhai Manilal Trivedi (middleman), a resident of A/8, Caesar Patel Park Society, Chhaprabhatha Road, Amroli, Surat City.
According to ACB officials, the accused demanded a bribe of ₹25,000, which was subsequently accepted and fully recovered during the trap operation.
As per the complaint, accused Lokrakshak allegedly encouraged the complainant to start a massage parlour business and, with the assistance of accused middleman, assured him that he would not be harassed or face legal action. The complainant, however, was unwilling to pay any bribe and contacted the ACB.
Based on the complaint, a trap was laid at Moje Podar Arcade Complex, near Station Garnala, near Varachha, Surat City. During the operation, accused No. 1 demanded the bribe and, with the assistance of accused No. 2, accepted the amount after purposeful conversation with the complainant. Both accused were caught red-handed on the spot.
The trap was carried out under the leadership of Shri A. N. Prajapati, Police Inspector, Vadodara Field Unit, along with ACB staff.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri B. M. Patel, Assistant Director, Vadodara Unit, and the overall guidance of Baldev Desai, IPS, Deputy Director, Vadodara Range.
