Palanpur: A road accident on the Palanpur-Deesa highway near Kushkal Patiya in north Gujarat has sparked controversy after allegations surfaced that a vehicle linked to Congress MP Geniben Thakor hit a motorcyclist and left the spot.
According to the victim’s family and local residents, the accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a car, in which the MP was allegedly travelling, struck a motorcycle ridden by a young man, leaving him critically injured. Family members further claimed that photographs and video footage recorded at the scene were deleted by the MP and her associates before they continued their journey.
The injured youth reportedly remained unconscious at the site for nearly three hours before being taken to Palanpur Civil Hospital. Doctors have said his condition is serious and he is undergoing treatment.
The victim’s brother told reporters that the family’s priority is the youth’s medical care. “Once his condition improves, we will decide on further legal action,” he said, adding that the family is seeking justice. They also alleged that the MP did not visit the injured youth immediately and met him at the hospital only the next day.
MP Geniben Thakor, however, has denied the allegations. She told the media that the incident occurred around 2 p.m. and maintained that her vehicle was not involved. According to her, the 16-year-old boy collided with stray cattle and fell in front of her vehicle, and she claimed CCTV footage supports her account.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident or the allegations, and further inquiry is awaited. DeshGujarat
