Maiden Navsari flower show creates Guinness World Record

Surat: Navsari Municipal Corporation (NMC) entered the Guinness World Records during its maiden flower show by unveiling an eight-foot-high and 49-foot-long floral wall that spelled out ‘Navsari’ using more than 95,000 flowers.

The achievement was recorded in the category of the “largest flower word” and was officially registered in the civic body’s name, bringing rare international recognition to the city.

Describing the event as more than a floral display, Union water resources minister and Navsari MP C R Paatil said the show reflected the government’s focus on good governance, sustainable growth and environmental conservation.

The NMC-organised exhibition featured over one million plants, including 25 varieties of flowering crops and more than 40 shades of flowers, drawing large crowds. Visitors were also captivated by floral installations inspired by designs from countries such as the US, Japan, the Netherlands and Germany, along with creative displays of the Statue of Unity, an ISRO rocket, a tiger, the Parliament building and Navsari’s historic tower.

Notably, Navsari has now joined the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in the club of civic bodies having a Guinness World Record in their name for flower shows organised by them. Earlier this month, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation set two Guinness World Records, the first for the world’s largest flower mandala, and the second for the world’s largest flower portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
