AMC to renovate Ahmedabad Heritage Walk route at ₹37.34 crore

Ahmedabad: To preserve Amdavad’s historic legacy, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has planned comprehensive renovation work of the city’s iconic Heritage Walk route under a dedicated heritage development concept.

The redevelopment project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal and infrastructure of the route while maintaining its traditional architectural character.

The renovation will cover the entire 2.25-kilometre-long Heritage Walk route located in the Central Zone of the city. The project, which is estimated to cost ₹37.34 crore, has received official approval from the civic body. The renovation work is scheduled to commence on May 1, 2025, and is targeted for completion by April 30, 2027. The project will be executed by Aditya Infabuildcon Pvt. Ltd., while Mahila Housing Seva Trust has been appointed as the design consultant for the heritage redevelopment.

The proposed work includes Kadappa stone paving, granite cobble stone paving and block paving across the stretch. The project will also feature installation of heritage signage and sculptures, heritage-theme-based decorative lighting, table-top flooring at key junctions, façade painting of buildings, and heritage-style gate-to-gate development works.

In addition, extensive underground utility infrastructure will be upgraded along the entire route. This includes laying of water pipelines, drainage and stormwater lines, Torrent Power cables, and Adani Gas pipelines.

It is noteworthy that the Heritage Walk is conducted daily along the route from Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple to Jumma Masjid in the Central Zone of AMC. Tourists from across the country and abroad regularly visit the heritage walk route. DeshGujarat
