Stray Dog Menace: Over 40 sheep killed in Gujarat village

Ranpur: More than 40 sheep were killed in a mass attack by stray dogs in Jalila village of Ranpur taluka early Wednesday morning, causing heavy losses to local cattle breeders.
According to details, seven to eight stray dogs jumped over the fencing of cattle farmer Harjibhai Radhabhai Sanchala and suddenly attacked a herd of around 70 to 80 sheep. In the attack, about 40 sheep died on the spot, while nearly 30 others sustained minor and serious injuries and were immediately shifted for treatment.
On receiving information about the incident, the cattle farmer rushed to the spot and managed to chase away the dogs. The sarpanch of Jalila village also reached the site soon after and initiated necessary action. The injured sheep were taken to the animal hospital for immediate medical care.
The incident has resulted in significant financial losses for cattle breeders in the village. Owing to the growing menace of stray dogs, an atmosphere of fear prevails among livestock owners. Local residents have demanded that the authorities take urgent steps to control stray dogs and provide adequate compensation to the affected cattle breeders. DeshGujarat
