The action targeted 68 consumers who had not paid their gas bills despite availing the service.
During the drive, 39 defaulters cleared their outstanding dues amounting to ₹7,33,892 on the spot. However, 29 consumers refused to pay arrears totalling ₹9,15,202, following which their gas connections were disconnected. The action created a stir among defaulters in the area.
Recovery drive over three days
VGL officials said the recovery drive has been underway for the past three days. On February 3, teams visited 63 defaulters, of whom 25 paid ₹5,32,070, while gas connections of 38 consumers with pending dues of ₹42,27,954 were disconnected.
