Amdavad Municipal Corporation to Implement 33% Reservation for Women in Direct Recruitment
February 12, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to implement a 33% reservation policy for women in direct recruitment across various departments, in line with the Government of Gujarat’s General Administration Department Resolution No. CRR/1096/2213/G-2 (Part-1) dated 11 November 2014.
Earlier, when AMC issued public notices inviting applications for vacant posts from Class-1 to Class-4 categories through direct recruitment, the women’s reservation policy was not incorporated. As a result, women candidates repeatedly submitted representations demanding that recruitment advertisements clearly mention posts reserved for women.
Following these representations, AMC placed a proposal before the Standing Committee to enforce the state government’s reservation policy. Under the new decision, every future recruitment advertisement will include category-wise posts reserved specifically for women candidates, ensuring a mandatory 33% reservation.
The implementation of the state government’s women reservation policy in AMC is expected to significantly improve employment opportunities for women. Eligible and qualified women candidates will now be able to apply specifically for the reserved posts within their respective categories. DeshGujarat
