Four Gujarat airports set to get Bharat Taxi service soon
February 12, 2026
Surat: The recently launched ‘Bharat Taxi’ facility is expected to be introduced at four airports in Gujarat in the near future. It is learnt that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Bharat Taxi to begin services at over nine airports across the country, including Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara and Bhuj.
With the launch of Bharat Taxi, a new transport service model has been introduced in which drivers (referred to as Sarthi) are given greater ownership rights compared to large private platforms, while passengers are expected to benefit from transparent fares and affordable transport.
The MoU, signed between AAI and Bharat Taxi, managed by Sahakar Taxi Co-op. Ltd. covers airports in Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhuj, Pune, Aurangabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Agra. Officials said the initiative is expected to improve passenger facilities while also creating new opportunities for the cooperative sector.
Sources at Surat Airport stated that although information about the agreement has been received, an official communication is still awaited. However, given the current developments, the possibility of Bharat Taxi services starting at Surat Airport in the near future cannot be ruled out. DeshGujarat
