Gujarat earns Rs. 194 crore from NA land conversions in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar in 2 years

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government earned a total of ₹193.68 crore from the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural (NA) use in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts over the two-year period ending December 31, 2025, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel told the State Assembly.

Significant Surge in Ahmedabad

According to year-wise data, Ahmedabad district recorded the conversion of 2,99,87,309 sq m of agricultural land in 2024, which rose to 5,11,27,891 sq m in 2025. In Gandhinagar district, 96,98,459 sq m was converted in 2024, increasing to 1,13,45,280 sq m in 2025.

As a result, the reduction in cultivable land reached 8,11,15,200 sq m in Ahmedabad and 2,10,43,739 sq m in Gandhinagar, taking the combined decrease in agricultural land to 10,21,58,939 sq m across both districts.

Revenue Impact

The conversion process proved to be a major revenue driver for the state government, with a total collection of ₹193,68,94,043 from the two districts. The revenue breakup is as follows:

  • Ahmedabad: ₹165,88,79,182

  • Gandhinagar: ₹27,80,14,861
