Start Draft GRs, tender & administrative process for Budget 2026 announcements: Gujarat CM tells depts
February 19, 2026
Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed all government departments to immediately begin preparatory administrative work for the implementation of schemes announced in the state budget, including drafting government resolutions (GRs), preparing tender documents, and initiating related procedures, without waiting for the budget’s formal passage in the Legislative Assembly.
The directive was issued during a meeting of the State Council of Ministers held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. According to government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani, members of the council and senior secretaries also congratulated the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai for presenting what was described as the largest and most historic budget in Gujarat’s history.
Vaghani stated that GST relaxations provided by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought relief to the public. Despite the possibility of reduced state revenue following these relaxations, the Gujarat government has increased the size of the budget by 10 percent through improved administrative efficiency. He added that economists and scholars have appreciated the budget, describing it as inclusive and covering all sections of society, including tribals, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, and farmers.
Emphasising administrative reforms, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary and all departments to start advance groundwork for both existing and newly announced schemes. This includes preparing draft GRs, draft tenders, and completing other procedural requirements now so that implementation can begin immediately after budget approval and benefits can reach citizens without delay.
The Chief Minister also directed departmental secretaries to review and compare schemes of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat, identify shortcomings if any, and rectify them swiftly to ensure that the maximum number of citizens receive scheme benefits. DeshGujarat
