Zero sum spent on Kutch desalination project in 2 years against Rs. 300 cr allocation

Gandhinagar: Work on a 100 MLD desalination plant aimed at converting seawater into potable water in Gundiyali village of Mandvi taluka in Kutch district is currently in progress, the Minister of State for Water Supply informed the Assembly. However, no clarity was provided on the timeline for completion of the project. Furthermore, despite an allocation of approximately ₹300 crore for the project over the past two years, no expenditure has been incurred by the state government as of December 31, 2025.
Responding to a question, the government stated that the project has been assigned to Kutch Sea Water Desalination Pvt. Ltd., a special purpose vehicle formed through a joint venture between Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, and Aquatech Systems Asia Pvt. Ltd. Physical execution of the project is underway.
The government further said that, as of December 31, 2025, work by the concessionaire is in progress and plans are in place to complete the project at the “earliest.” DeshGujarat
