IMD forecasts light rain, thunderstorms in these parts of Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated places in five districts of Gujarat during the next 24 hours, ending at 8:30 am on Saturday.

According to the District Forecast & Warnings issued at noon on Friday, light rain with thunderstorms is very likely in Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur and Narmada districts (Day-1).

The probability of occurrence in these districts has been categorised as “Very Likely” (51–75%). However, from February 21 onwards, dry weather is expected to prevail across these districts as well as the rest of the state over the next seven days.

No warning has been issued for heavy rainfall. Other districts, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara and Kutch, are likely to witness dry weather during the forecast period.

It is noteworthy that a Western Disturbance in the form of a cyclonic circulation persists over north Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Punjab and Haryana between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting northwards with height.

Additionally, a trough extending from north Gujarat to south Haryana across central Rajasthan at 1.5 km above mean sea level continues to persist.
