Junagadh: A fresh police complaint has been registered against social media personality Kirti Patel and four others after a Junagadh-based YouTuber allegedly attempted suicide by consuming phenyl, claiming harassment and extortion threats.

According to police, the complainant, Abzal Seeda, who runs a YouTube channel, alleged that Patel and her associates demanded ₹20 lakh and pressured him to delete videos critical of her. The case has been registered at Jetpur Udyognagar police station, and further investigation is underway.

As per the FIR, the dispute stems from videos related to the Mahashivratri fair held in Junagadh. Patel had reportedly posted controversial content following an incident at Mrigikund during the fair. Seeda, despite being Muslim, claimed he uploaded videos opposing remarks allegedly made against sadhus and Sanatan Dharma.

He alleged that after his videos gained traction, Patel’s online viewership declined, prompting her and her associates, identified as Divya Savlani (Junagadh), Jaspalsinh (her boyfriend), Hanu Ranabhai Chavda (Surat), and Viram Chothabhai Mewada (Surat), to contact him via Instagram and WhatsApp calls.

The accused allegedly demanded ₹20 lakh, threatened to implicate him in a false rape case, and warned of dire consequences if he failed to delete the videos. The complainant further stated that he was told the accused would come to his house, which left him mentally distressed.

Police said that on the evening of February 20, following a conference call during which the threats were allegedly repeated, Seeda consumed phenyl at his residence. He later went near the Bhadar River railway bridge in Jetpur-Navagadh and allegedly consumed the substance again in an attempt to end his life.

A woman passerby alerted the 108 emergency service, and he was rushed to Jetpur Government Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. In his statement from the hospital bed, Seeda named all five accused and sought strict action.

Counter-claims by co-accused

Divya Savlani, one of the accused, denied the allegations, claiming she does not personally know the complainant. She alleged the controversy was being fuelled for publicity and TRP. She further stated that the complainant had earlier contacted them via video call and had made objectionable remarks during live sessions.

Police have initiated legal proceedings and are examining mobile location data and WhatsApp call recordings as part of the probe. Officials said further sections may be added based on digital evidence and witness statements.

Notably, this is the third complaint registered against Kirti Patel in Junagadh within the past seven days. DeshGujarat
