AMC to Redevelop Naroda – Narol Highway at Rs 250 Crore

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will redevelop the 13.7-km Naroda–Narol Highway, one of the busiest corridors in the eastern part of the city, at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore. The project will include upgraded pedestrian infrastructure, underpasses, traffic signage and other urban amenities, along with improvements to the main carriageway to ease traffic congestion.

Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani said the civic body has been carrying out major road development and beautification projects across the city. After developing the iconic Airport Circle–Dafnala stretch, AMC will now focus on upgrading the Naroda Patiya–Narol Circle corridor to strengthen connectivity in east Ahmedabad.

The Road Project Department will redevelop the Narol Circle–Naroda Patiya stretch with a 60-metre-wide road designed to ensure smoother and safer traffic movement. The project includes 10.5-metre-wide main carriageways on both sides and 10.5-metre-wide service roads to separate local traffic.

For pedestrian safety, 2-metre-wide footpaths will be built on both sides, along with seating facilities. A 1-metre-wide median will separate the main carriageway and service roads. The project will also include plantation, landscaping, traffic signage and a multi-utility zone.

Once completed, the Narol–Naroda Patiya corridor is expected to become a key connectivity route and help ease traffic congestion in several parts of east Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
